ADED Older Driver Badge

Part of ADED's

Credentialing Program

Awareness of the challenges of a rapidly growing diverse aging population and the specific aspects across the spectrum of aging drivers is critical for the driver rehabilitation specialist servicing this population. The service provider must be aware of the key issues related to the normal aging process as well as those common medical issues associated with this population. The driver rehabilitation specialist must be able to assess for the strengths or challenges for the skills used to drive, adapt the driving method, prescribe and or issue equipment when there are functional limitations and facilitate driving retirement as needed for the older, seasoned driver.

Badges are a part of ADED’s Educational Roadmap. Badges, micro-credentials, and the CDRS® certification are all credentials available to those on the professional journey towards excellence in driver rehabilitation. These credentials are earned, endorsed by ADED, and verifiable. An ADED-issued badge is an accolade that attests to qualifications, competencies, and knowledge or skill attainment within a relatively small scope of the practice of driver rehabilitation.

Once a badge has been awarded, the specialist will receive a digital icon that recognizes the credential earned. This is an outward symbol of skills, abilities, and accomplishments. These icons can be shared digitally in email signatures, business cards, web pages, on social media, and resumes. Anywhere the badge holder wants to proudly promote their specialized skills. Earning a badge signifies to colleagues, employers, referral sources, and the public a comment to excellence in the field of driver rehabilitation. Badges may be stackable or part of a sequence that can be accumulated over time.
