Tim Danter has been passionate about road safety and road safety education for 30 years. Tim became a Certified Driving Instructor in 1987, and went to work for Young Drivers of Canada, focusing on training within the novice driving market. In 1989 Tim became a Certified In-Class Instructor, and quickly excelled at training in front of a large group of people. In 1990, Tim purchase the YD franchise for which he had started his career. Tim and his team have trained well in excess of 25,000 new drivers in the Halton Region. Tim was a Senior/Regional Supervisor Driving Instructor within the YD organization, where he was not only instrumental in helping the continuous evolvement of their curriculum but he also aided in the development of other YD Instructors. Tim left the YD organization in 2008 and joined the DriveWise team. Tim took the novice program to a new level incorporating new technology to the learning platform, through the advancement of driving simulators. This opened a new market for Tim, specifically commercial vehicles and emergency responders.

Tim grew his expertise is in the training and development of adult drivers finding a need within the commercial sector as well as with senior drivers. In the past 15 years, Tim has turned his focus towards the specialty areas of motor vehicle crash clients. This included retraining clients to return to driving with anxiety, hand controls and head injuries.

Tim joined ADED in 2012 to gain a more solid foundation for the specialty driver training industry. Tim was also the lead in-car instructor with the University of Western’s study on driving and M.S. He was the in-car instructor for a semester with the University of Western for their program for OT’s entering into the Driver Assessment field. Tim has been on the Mayor’s special committee to combat impaired driving. Tim is currently the head driving instructor and panel expert for Canada’s Worst Driver, since 2012. Most recently Tim has joined the Professional Development Committee with ADED which is developing the criteria for driving instructors to obtain micro badges, credentials within the ADED organization.

Tim’s addition credentials include the following: Vehicle Accident Investigation, Supervisor Instructor, Canada Safety Council, Highway Traffic Act course, Health and Safety for drivers.
