Free Mobile App to Helps Parents Teach Teens How to Drive Safely

Shepherd Center, in partnership with the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety and Cap Tech, has created the first mobile app developed by certified driver rehabilitation specialists for parents to teach their teens to drive safely. The app, which is a free download in both the Apple App and Google Play stores, includes features that heavily support modeling safe driving behaviors for your teen.  Studies have shown that one of the most protective factors against teenage injuries and fatalities due to car crashes are parents who model, monitor and enforce safe driving practices.

Wheelchair Van Dimension Guide

When considering the purchase of a wheelchair accessible van, there are several variables to consider. Dimensions such as door opening height, ramp width, ramp angle, and even the length of the ramp can all come into play when making sure the vehicle you select will meet your individual needs. This guide identifies all of the important variables to consider. We invite you to use this tool to explore what is available to accommodate your specific mobility device and physical requirements. The dimensions provided represent minivan conversions manufactured between 2011 and 2015. Direct Link:http://www.mobilityworks.com/resources/van-dimension-guide/

National Organization for Vehicle Accessibility (NOVA)

We are pleased to announce that The Ralph Braun Foundation is now the National Organization for Vehicle Accessibility (NOVA). We have changed our name to offer a greater representation of the service we provide and the consumers we serve. Our new name allows us to reach more donors while assisting those with mobility needs through education, information and product acquisition. No changes will be made to the service we provide. We will continue to uphold the vision of our founder and inspiration, Ralph Braun, who was committed to helping individuals with disabilities obtain the mobility products that best meet their needs in order to live a full and independent life.

NOVA works to provide vehicle modification grants to individuals with disabilities in need of financial assistance.   Our mobility assistance grant program is designed to bridge the funding gap that prevents people in need of transportation mobility products from achieving their mobility goals.  We do this by offering grants of up to 25% of the cost of the actual mobility transportation equipment with a cap of $5,000 to people throughout the United States and Canada who have secured the majority of the funds needed, but require the final amount to complete their purchase.

Ralph Braun believed that everyone has the right to accessible transportation. He created this nonprofit organization in 2010 with a simple purpose: to bridge the funding gap for those who cannot afford needed transportation mobility products. With the blessing of Ralph Braun’s children, NOVA will officially launch in February 2017.

 HelpHOPELive

HelpHOPELive is a nonprofit fundraising solution for you, a friend or a loved one in need of help with medical bills.

Even for patients who have insurance, a health crisis often becomes a financial crisis. Uninsured medical expenses place a devastating financial burden on as many as 1 in 2 Americans.

For more than 30 years HelpHOPELive has been showing community fundraising volunteers how to bring together a network of relatives, friends and neighbors in fundraising efforts to help cover the costs of uninsured medical expenses. These efforts play a critical role in helping patients recover and maintain their health and independence.

HelpHOPELive manages all of the funds raised and pays bills directly, helping patients and their families focus more on their treatment and recovery while providing accountability to donors who can be sure their funds will be spent for their intended purposes.

Because HelpHOPELive is a nonprofit, the financial support we provide to patients and their families does not jeopardize their medical coverage status. Contributions are also tax deductible to members of the community who support these efforts.

Since 1983, we have helped thousands of people raise millions of dollars to cover a wide range of medical expenses including out-of-pocket costs for transplants, catastrophic injuries and illnesses.

Help Our Military Heroes

Founded in 2009, Help Our Military Heroes (HOMH) honors our wounded service men and women who have served in recent conflicts and have returned home with severe injuries that require modified minivans.

HOMH is a registered 501c3, non-profit organization dedicated to providing fully equipped, adaptive minivans to our country’s most severely wounded, injured and ill service men and women who sustained their injuries while on active duty during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. HOMH is donation-driven; ALL non-program expenses are paid by its founding and board members, which means 100% of public donations go toward the purchase of modified minivans for our heroes, as well as support for other programs that help the wounded and injured. HOMH recognizes that every case is different and works with each individual to provide a minivan with modifications specific to his or her needs. The Keith Howell Mobility Trust

The intent of these equipment awards by IAM Ministries, via Keith Howell Mobility Trust, is to provide basic low tech driving aids to individuals with disabilities who need assistance giving them the opportunity to believe in themselves, belong to community, and build on their dreams.
Once an award for equipment has been made, H.V.L. (Howell Ventures Limited) will be notified by IAM Ministries. H.V.L. will then look to a certified Sure Grip dealer to have the awaited equipment installed. Awards will be given and products distributed before the end of each quarter and prior to the next application period. Applicants may only apply twice. Click on image to learn more about the program and application guidelines.  More information can be found on our website:http://www.iamministries.com/ministries/i-am-able/keith-howell-mobility-trust
