ADED Memorial Scholarship​

The Memorial Scholarship Fund is supported by donations and provides financial assistance for the purpose of attending courses developed and provided by ADED. Up to five (5) $1000 scholarships per course will be awarded to eligible applicants.

Adaptive Driving Alliance (ADA) Scholarship

 

The Adaptive Driving Alliance (ADA) provides financial assistance to the professional Driver Rehabilitation Specialist for the purpose of sitting for the Certified Driver Rehabilitation exam based on need.

The Spirit of Crescent Industries Scholarship

 

Various manufacturers and mobility equipment dealer members have generously contributed to this fund which supports ADED members to cover expenses associated with conference attendance. Each award is for $1250.

INTRODUCTION TO DRIVER REHABILITATION
This two-day course is ideal for those new to the field of driver rehabilitation. The skills and knowledge needed to establish an adaptive driving program or become a new staff member for an established program will be discussed and shared. Topics of the course include: program development, behind the wheel training techniques, introduction to adaptive driving equipment and program documentation. Also discussed will be collaboration with mobility equipment dealers, family and medical team members.

TOPICS COVERED:
• The basic components of a driver clinical and
behind the wheel assessment
• Resources for collaboration within the driver
rehabilitation community
• Necessary and optional components for
starting a driver rehabilitation program
• The roles of other professionals involved in
independent and adapted mobility

This two-day course is ideal for those desiring knowledge of adaptive driving equipment as well as the process for prescribing and delivering such equipment to individuals with disabilities. Topics will cover adaptive driving equipment assessment, low tech equipment options, high tech driving systems, writing prescriptions and vehicle / equipment fitting. The course also covers collaboration with local mobility equipment dealers and drivers for best-fit options. This two-day seminar has been developed for traffic safety / driver education professionals with limited knowledge of disabilities, as well as for health professionals who wish to apply their knowledge of the different types and levels of disabilities to the driving task.

TRAFFIC SAFETY

his two day course is for those with a limited knowledge of traffic safety education. Instructional topics include: an overview of the highway transportation system, the physical, cognitive, and visual perceptual aspects of the driving task, rules-of-the-road, defensive driving, simulation, closed course range exercises, behind the- wheel activities (ex. lesson and progress notation).

TOPICS COVERED: 

• Strategic driving principles
• Skills and professionalism of the driver rehabilitation specialist
• Road Testing and competency assessment techniques
• General guide to the road test
• Collision scene and management
• Planning for challenging situations

CANCELLATION POLICY:  All cancellations for ADED courses, pre-conference workshops and conference registration must be made in writing to the ADED Executive Office  at least one month prior to the event; a $50.00 handling fee will be charged.   ADED reserves the right to cancel seminars due to unforeseen/unavoidable circumstances at any time. ADED is not responsible for nonrefundable airline and hotel reservations that a participant incurred due to conference cancellation. Contact Hour Associate (CHAP) Program
 
The new ADED Contact Hour Associate (CHAP) program is designed to promote quality educational programming offered to certified driver rehabilitation specialists (CDRS). CHAP providers can award CDRS contact hours to their relevant continuing education (CE). Contact hours obtained under the CHAP program can be used by the CDRS towards their certification renewal.
