Hot Topics in the Industry: A Panel Presentation - 4 CDRS Credit Hours Offered

Our panel presentation will included discussion on several topics in our industry that may bring us challenges or could be unique to our industry. Topics will include: Travel/removable hand controls, driving with sun shields, Medical Marijuana and driving, Service animals, ALS and driving, DMV protocols, Adaptive driving equipment and recommendations, Adaptive Driving Equipment deliveries with/without an instructor brake, judging space gaps, teaching parallel parking, and Equipment needs for a training car.

Learning Objectives:

1. Attendees will be able to identify the pros/cons to using removable hand controls.
2. Attendees will be able to verbalize challenges to adaptive equipment recommendations.
3. Attendees will be able to verbalize the benefit of having a secondary brake for VM deliveries.
4. Attendees will be able to verbalize DMV policies for KY, TN and WV.
5. Attendees will be able to identify the basics of a pre-driver eval, road test and having hard discussions with persons with ALS.
6. Attendees will be able to verbalize the basic techniques used to teach parallel parking.
7. Attendees will learn what equipment is needed on a basic evaluation and training car.
8. Attendees will identify benefit of sun shields.
9. Attendees will explore medical marijuana and its potential impact on our industry.
10. Attendees will identify the challenges that may impact judging time and space gaps.
