Dynamic Vision and New Indoor Mobility Pre-Driver Screening Tool 

 

The purpose of this workshop is to provide a review of vision and visuo-cognition skills associated with driving as well as introducing a new assessment tool that might aide DRS practitioners in screening dynamic vision and other skills associated with driving behaviors.

 

Learning Objectives

 

1. Identify aspects of vision associated with driving

2. Identify assessments of visuo-cognition as well as vision/dynamic vision associated with driving evaluations

3. Assess a new proposed tool for dynamic vision

4. Apply proposed new tool with client/simulated client

5. Recognize opportunities for research 

 

 

Presenter: Mary Shotwell, Ph.D., OT/L, FAOTA

 

Mary Shotwell received her BS in OT from Temple University in 1983 and her Masters in Health Professions Education from MUSC in 1995. Mary received her doctorate in May 2003 from University in Adult Education with graduate certificates in Interdisciplinary Qualitative Research and Gerontology. During her doctoral work, Mary also took extra coursework in Health Promotion. Mary has worked in many clinical and administrative areas including: mental health and community based practice; adult orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation; working with well elderly and aging in place; private practice pediatrics; school system practice; and early intervention. Mary’s research interests include developing and validating occupational therapy assessments with a variety of populations
